Luxury in Bad Kleinkirchheim: A feel-good ski resort in a picturesque setting

The Carinthian ski resort welcomes skiers and snowboarders to the amazing Austrian Alps. The resort, lying at 1070m, provides direct access to many kilometres of cross-country skiing and downhill skiing, with reliable snow cover at heights above 2000m. The resort caters for skiers of all abilities. Wide and sunny runs are always perfectly groomed. The resort's own skiing on the Kaiserburg and Nockalm mountains is now linked to the pistes of the smaller neighbouring village of St Oswald via the Sonnwiesenbahn lift. A huge asset is the new noiseless snowmaking system with around 500 state-of-the-art cannons covering most of the ski terrain - a far higher coverage than at most European resorts. To transport you swiftly up the mountains, without having to endure long queues, the resort offers you a choice of T-bars, quad chairs or the two stage, four-seater Kaiserburgbahn gondola up to the Kaiserburg peak, the area's highest point. Especially for beginners, there are broad sunny meadows near the village, and with more than three quarters of the runs classified as 'intermediate', it is paradise for competent fun skiers! The skiing continues over on the St Oswald side with another 4 seater gondola, the Nockalmbahn. More than 70 ski instructors are employed to improve the skills of skiers and snowboarders. There are two ski schools, in the village.

For expert skiers there are more difficult runs such as the K 70 FIS run, which is challenging - even for professional World-Cup ski-racers. Cross-country skiers will love the variety of cross-country routes at different altitudes, including the Nockalm-Panorama-Run with marvellous views. The snowboard test centre provides daily demos. Weekly events are arranged, including snowboard shows, freestyle competitions and displays. The terrain is ideal for freestyle cruising. After a day of enjoyment on the slopes, you need not retire immediately to your luxury rental chalet: there are plenty apr�s ski activities and the fun carries on till late at night. You may prefer to relax in a spectacular swimming pools or one of the leisure and sports facilities. An experience not to be passed over, is a visit to Bad Kleinkirchheim's thermal spas. The R�merbad thermal spa, one of the best wellness spa in the Alps, has 13 saunas, different pools, massages and beauty treatments to revive tired skiers' legs or to spoil non-skiers with a feeling of total relaxation. This is the ideal resort for a ski break, a snowboard weekend or a short family holiday. It has comfortable accommodation in a private catered chalet or ski apartment for rent and it is perfectly accessible with five airports within two hours' drive; Klagenfurt Airport is only an hour's drive away.

Activities

The village provides plenty night time socializing activities. The Beim Sepp bar and the Peso, with a variety of international beers, open as soon as the ski lifts close in the afternoon. There are round about 25 bars and night spots to choose from, including Take five Dancing, The Victoria Pub and Club MC9; The Brechlstube and The Groar-Keusch'n, with live and lively accordion music. Bad Kleinkirchheim is well-known for its thermal spas. The R�merbad thermal spa has 13 saunas, many different pools, massages and beauty treatments.

This is a superb resort for snow sporting activities. It offers 100km of downhill skiing pistes and 47km of cross-country pistes. The 32 individual pistes, served by 27 ski lifts, cater for beginners, intermediate skiers as well as expert skiers. It has 2 sunny blue pistes, 25 wonderful red pistes and 5 really challenging black pistes. A snowboard test centre is open for demos daily. Cross-country skiers can enjoy a variety of cross-country routes at different altitudes. The resort terrain is excellent for freestyle cruising. Swimming is high on the activities list and in autumn, hiking is a favourite activity in these mountains.
