Luxury in Argentière ARCHIVED: Great skiing and the authentic Haute Savoie
The best advanced skiing here is done with guides with unlimited possibilities for off-pistes and cross-country skiing. There is beginner and intermediate skiing in the neighbouring village of Le Tour and in the rest of Chamonix. Argentière is not just for expert skiers and mountaineers - sit back in front of a log fire with your favourite book, take lovely walks, or enjoy a massage in your luxury ski chalet for rent, or at the spa. If you feel like exploring you are a mere half an hour's drive away from Italy and one hour from Switzerland with visits to nearby Courmayeur, Martigny and Annecy. Argentière is a small village and nightlife is restricted to a few local bars and restaurants. If you do want to go out at night it will be to Chamonix, a 10 minute drive away. Chamonix is the centre of a lively music scene and has plenty of bars, nightclubs, and restaurants, although the crowd is generally more down-to-earth than in resorts such as Verbier or Courchevel.
Argentière is at the top end of the Chamonix Valley. It is a small, traditional, all-year-round village that is associated with luxury winter holidays and some of the most famous skiing in the world. You come here for off-piste and advanced skiing on Les Grands Montets. However, there is also plenty skiing opportunities for beginners and for intermediate skiers. The natural surroundings are stunning and your breath will be taken away by the views of the Mont Blanc and the glaciers of Argentiere and of Le Tour from the catered ski chalets. Argentière is just over an hour's drive from Geneva airport and two hours from Milan.
