Leo Trippi's catered chalets in MĂ©ribel for your luxury ski holiday

Luxury in MĂ©ribel: Ski in, ski out in the world's largest ski area

MĂ©ribel is a friendly village, ideal for families and groups with skiers of varied skiing abilities, especially for intermediates. Snow conditions are fantastic and the level and quality of ski instruction are famous. Expert skiers will find black runs and everyone can usually meet up for lunch no matter what their level. If you aren't skiing, there are plenty of other activities to keep you occupied including snow-shoeing, cross-country skiing and more. The snow park set the benchmark for freestylers in all of Europe. In the centre of town is the Parc Olympique with a swimming pool, ice-rink, spa, gym, climbing wall, bowling alley and a night-club. Most of the luxury ski chalets for rent will have either a sauna or an outdoor Jacuzzi to relax in or you can sit back with a nice book in front of the log fire. The quality of Meribel's chalet life keeps many people indoors for dinner. MĂ©ribel's nightlife ranges from a lively apres-ski in the bars to clubs open until the early hours. There are plenty of venues and much to please the tastes of everyone on luxury winter holidays in a resort that is decidedly uncomplicated and fun.

The resort was founded by a Scotsman, Colonel Peter Lindsay, who set his sights on somewhere to build a new ski resort away from the Nazi regime. He first visited Les Allues in 1936 and planned how he could transform the small town into a fully functional ski resort. He moved quickly, with the help of French skier Emile Allais with the first ski lift being built just 2 years later and the first chalets a year after this. Traditional Les Allues, with is alluring farm buildings, tucked away alleys and a communal bread oven, is the administrative centre of Meribel Valley. It is linked to Meribel Centre via the Olympe cable car and the free shuttle service, giving direct access to the pistes. Meribel is made up of several sub villages, Meribel Centre, Meribel Village and Meribel-Mottaret. The area of the ski resort is vast, but there is something for everyone here and all hamlets are very well connected with ski lifts or buses. The lovely ski in, ski out village of Le Raffort is where some very old private ski chalets have been redesigned and where stars come to find a peaceful location.
