Zambia, Lion Camp - African Safari
The Lions of Africa
This is one of a handful of safari camps allowed to operate inside Zambia’s South Luangwa National Park; a rich, bountiful landscape at the end of the Great Rift Valley in a wilderness first explored by Stanley and Livingstone a century and a half ago. It provides sanctuary for an impressive variety of birds and mammals; is renowned for its leopards, and is home to possibly the world’s largest concentration of Nile crocodiles. But you’ll never forget your first look at a lion.
FULL DESCRIPTION
This place of fine luxury in real Africa is an intimate refuge of comfort and tranquillity where the world is still wild. It accommodates up to eighteen guests, in 9 beautifully furnished canvas-and-thatch chalets, 5 with king-size double-beds and 4 with twin-bedded rooms. Each stylish chalet features luxuriously draped mosquito nets, a private balcony with comfortable day-beds, a stand-fan and en suite bathroom with shower and toilet. The chalets stand high above the savannah on stilts, and the entire lodge is linked by a system of lighted boardwalks. With no fences surrounding the lodge, wildlife is free to move unhindered, under the walkways. Elephant, hippos and small antelope such as bushbuck and puku, are frequently seen in camp.
At the heart of this camp is a cosy gathering place. The step-down infinity pool, the dramatic boma fireplace, the woven copper bar, and the ever-changing view as wildlife crosses the open plain in front of the lodge will provide the perfect blend of safari elegance, hospitality and premier game-viewing opportunities.
The staff are attentive and courteous, providing personalised service with attention to detail. To complete the safari adventure, the chefs will create tempting meals using fresh produce and finesse.
We offer game drives and walking safaris, with an armed escort accompanying every walking safari. Knowledgeable guides will entertain and enlighten you with the secrets of the African bush. Night drives, which are unavailable in much of Africa are part of the safari experience at this camp. The South Luangwa National Park (SLNP) is not just an animal refuge, but a living, breathing ecosystem —carefully preserved and fiercely protected. No hunting is allowed in the National Park, and we follow strict guidelines for eco-tourism. The camp is dedicated to maintaining the African beauty — for our guests, and also for the sake of the land and the local community itself.
