Argentina, Pampa Grande - South America
Where the trail goes no further
Once the property of the Spanish general who came down from Peru and founded Salta, 400 years ago, this estate can claim a part of the unique and historic appeal of the Northwest: the meeting place of the pre-Colombian Indian lifestyle and the Spanish culture. It offers a different kind of luxury and is about interacting with locals and sampling the customs of food, dress and ceremony. It is about quality and depth of experience in a remote corner of this vast country.
FULL DESCRIPTION
The old colonial House or “sala” is surrounded by sheltered galeries. These offer a seamless transfer between indoors and outdoors, thereby providing a true contact with nature. The sala will enhance your feeling of stepping back in history and tasting the charm of a world less cluttered by trappings of contemporary life.
Many traditional and local details were integrated in the renovation of the suites and reception rooms. Guests are housed in 11 double bedrooms with en suite bathroom facilities. The outdoor swimming pool provides refreshment on the glorious summer days.
The historical estancia with its colonial architecture, nestles among the huge trees on a 70000 acres cattle ranch. Horses and horsemanship are central to the flux of life here: more than 150 are used by gauchos to work the cattle, and several hundred run wild in the hills. Here you will meet both man and horse in a splendid wild nature when you round up cattle in the corales. Breathtaking horseback riding in the valleys and over mountains ridges will take you deep into Andean country.
These are lands to experience slowly, listening to your horse’s breathing and watching the shadow of a condor circling high above or observing the extraordinary fauna and flora of the Yunga region. Archeological remnants of pre-Colombian Indian culture can be visited, as well as a 70 acre lake surrounded by a 100 year old arboretum.
The Estancia proposes entirely personalized opportunities to escape from daily mental routine and a genuine chance to become one with nature.
The dry season is from April to December and the wet season from January to March. Because of the altitude, the nights are cool nights and days are warm.
