Luxury in Dubrovnik area: Elite destination famous for its city walls

The Croatian city is a top destination and in terms of attractiveness, there is no city similar to Dubrovnik. Despite the many changes it underwent throughout its entire history, it managed to preserve its medieval magic. It can be felt even in the 21st century as thousands of tourists come to this gorgeous city to rent luxury chalets for the summer holidays. Dubrovnik is on the Adriatic Sea, in the region of Dalmatia in Croatia. It is one of the most celebrated tourist destinations in the Mediterranean, a seaport and aptly named the 'Pearl of the Adriatic'. Celebrities discovered Dubrovnik long ago as a place to be seen. Visualising Croatia, a foreigner will picture Dubrovnik's immaculate fortifications set against a flawless cobalt blue background.

Historically it was one of the epicentres of the development of the Croatian language and literature, and home to artists and scholars. The outdoor cafes, winding streets and small shops of the incredibly attractive old part of the maritime town are the main features of Dubrovnik. The Croatian city was able to keep and maintain its beautiful Baroque, Renaissance and Gothic palaces, monasteries, churches and fountains. Throughout history, the city walls surrounding the town, were guarding the city from the enemy but today the Dubrovnik City Walls fascinate visitors from all around the world. Dubrovnik is very safe and tourists, residing in the luxury of a rental seaside villa, can leisurely investigate the city on foot.

Activities

There are many places in the Old Town for a tourist to discover. Amongst others there are the Bell Tower, Sponza Palace, the Rector's Palace, Roland's Column and Placa Stradun. The Stradun is the busiest street of the city of Dubrovnik and this is where the old city comes to life. Most of Dubrovnik's events happen on the Stradun, like the Dubrovnik summer festival and New Year's Eve and the Festivity of Saint Blaise. Besides all these there is Big Onofrio´s Fountain, Fort Lovrijenac, the aquarium, many churches and museums and of course the city walls to see. Many local artisans specialize in domestic crafts. There are a varied choice of bars, clubs, restaurants and cafes throughout the entire city with prices changing according to the locality

For the active guests there is the Dubrovnik International Regatta, hiking, cycling, horseback and donkey riding. Diving, kayaking, Jeep Safaris, swim in the Adriatic Sea below the old wall, Jet skiing, parasailing, snorkelling and sailing are similarly popular amongst tourists.
