Luxury in Zermatt: Laid back summers
Zermatt is famous for two things: the iconic and majestic Matterhorn and its care-free atmosphere. The attractive vacation village has preserved its original character - it is a special place that has no comparison for luxury winter holidays, let alone summer time. Lying in a superb location, in the middle of an enormous hiking and ski region, the resort offers skiing in summer as well, but only on the glacier. Mountain restaurants such as Chez Vrony are well known and most of the spa and pool facilities are in hotels to which access is possible. Apart from magnificent luxury catered chalets in Zermatt, Leo Trippi also offers luxury apartments for rent, as well as luxury chalets and apartments on a self-catered basis. Zermatt is not a jet-set resort but guests can enjoy luxury summer holidays in a friendly and casual atmosphere, teeming with fresh mountain air.
Parents enjoy the convenience of the easy slopes for their children. It is also Europe's largest and highest lying summer skiing region. The area is a great favourite amongst mountaineers: the challenging international Haute Route leads from Mont Blanc to Zermatt. Non-skiers can ascend the mountains in a cable car or take a snow shoe stroll from their catered ski chalets. The pretty town, with its mesmeric atmosphere, provides an almost unlimited variety of excursions, tournaments and festivals. An excursion to Gornergrat is a must. From here, you can gape at 29 four thousand-metre peaks – a record in this region. In the mountaineers' cemetery next to the church, you can also see that mountains can take their toll on humans The trip by car or by train from Geneva airport takes a good 3 hours, while Sion airport is 1 hour and 20 minutes away.
