Saas Fee - Pearl of the Alps

Saas-Fee, also named The Pearl of the Alps, is probably one of the best kept secrets for luxury winter holidays in the Swiss Alps. First is its impressive natural setting, located in the heart of a dramatic Mischabel range formed by 13 mountain tops of over 4000 meters. Then it has managed to stay small and to contain its growth so that the village has nothing to envy of its more famous neighbour, Zermatt. It is also a car-free resort, so if you like the idea of Zermatt, you might want to give Saas Fee a try. The ski domain has 22 lifts, 150 kilometers of snow-assured pistes and a glacier situated at an altitude of 3600 meters, which guarantees good snow under almost all conditions. For the amateurs of cross-country skiing, there are 32 kilometers of tracks through larch forests and along the frozen river Vispa. Many kilometres of winter walking trails, 350 kilometers of hiking trails and some marvellous toboggan runs are available, with specials for families and children. Those with a penchant for extreme sports, can try ice climbing. For the romantics and non skiers, there is the possibility to enjoy a horse-drawn carriage ride, to skate in the open-air ice rink and to enjoy shopping in the village as part of their luxury winter holidays. Saas-Fee is car free: you leave your car at the entrance to the village and an electric taxi will drive you to your luxury catered chalet.
