Saas-Fee - Switzerland
Zermatt's cousin: the Pearl of the Alps
Saas-Fee, also named The Pearl of the Alps, is probably one of the best kept secret in the Swiss Alps. First is its impressive natural setting, located in the heart of a dramatic Mischabel range formed by 13 mountain tops of over 4000 meters. Then it has managed to stay small and to contain its growth so that the village has nothing to envy of its more famous cousin and neighbour, Zermatt. It is also a resort without cars so if you like the idea of Zermatt you might want to give Saas-Fee a try.
For the romantics and non skiers, there is the possibility to enjoy a horse-drawn carriage, to skate in the open-air ice rink and to enjoy the shopping in the village. Please note that Saas-Fee is car free. You leave your car at the entrance to the village and an electric taxi will drive you to your chalet.
