The Carinthian ski resort welcomes skiers and snowboarders to the amazing Austrian Alps. The resort, lying at 1070m, provides direct access to many kilometres of cross-country skiing and downhill skiing, with reliable snow cover at heights above 2000m. The resort caters for skiers of all abilities. Wide and sunny runs are always perfectly groomed. The resort's own skiing on the Kaiserburg and Nockalm mountains is now linked to the pistes of the smaller neighbouring village of St Oswald via the Sonnwiesenbahn lift. A huge asset is the new noiseless snowmaking system with around 500 state-of-the-art cannons covering most of the ski terrain - a far higher coverage than at most European resorts. Especially for beginners, there are broad sunny meadows near the village, and with more than three quarters of the runs classified as 'intermediate', it is paradise for competent fun skiers! The skiing continues over on the St Oswald side with another 4 seater gondola, the Nockalmbahn. More than 70 ski instructors are employed to improve the skills of skiers and snowboarders. There are two ski schools, in the village.
For expert skiers there are more difficult runs such as the K 70 FIS run, which is challenging - even for professional World-Cup ski-racers. Cross-country skiers will love the variety of cross-country routes at different altitudes, including the Nockalm-Panorama-Run with marvellous views. The snowboard test centre provides daily demos. Weekly events are arranged, including snowboard shows, freestyle competitions and displays. The terrain is ideal for freestyle cruising.
