Luxury in Morzine: Authentic village in the middle of the French Alps
Morzine is one of fourteen resorts in the massive Portes du Soleil ski area, which span the Franco-Swiss border. It is a concentration of ski holiday facilities, but still manages to pull off that authentic mountain village feel. When it comes to the slopes, this is a fine destination for beginners and intermediate skiers, with an abundance of gentle pistes. It is also a good place from where you can explore the Porte du Soleil's many challenging options if you feel adventurous. Lifts often lead directly up to these areas, which mean less hiking and more skiing. Freestylers, however, may want to skip Morzine and head to neighbouring Avoriaz, since Morzine's park does not cater especially for them. Apart from Alpine skiing, you can enjoy cross country skiing, the challenge of ice diving or the fun of the ice rink in the centre of town.
From the summit of Chamossière you can make out Lake Geneva to the north, Mont Blanc to the south and the Swiss border just a short distance away - a quick glance around and straight away you can locate Morzine, a little town tucked away in the Alps, nestling between the mountains and forests. Rent a lovely luxury villa here and you will find the pleasant leisurely lifestyle and authentic charm of a village which has retained all its typical Savoyard character. Ideally located in the heart of the Portes du Soleil ski area, Morzine offers a wonderful playground of 650km of ski slopes for exceptional skiing and unforgetable winter holidays. In summer they become marked trails for hiking and mountain biking. The immense unspoilt open spaces around beckon you to get away from it all and explore them as you wish.
