Leo Trippi's private villas for rent in Kitzbuhel for your luxury holiday

Luxury in Kitzbuhel: Green, Austrian Gemutlichkeit

Kitzbühel lies in a beautiful valley at the foot of the Kitzbüheler Horn. The resort is in the Kitzbüheler Alps, between the state capitals of the Tyrol, Innsbruck and Salzburg and therefore it is central from the three main airports, although local roads or the regional train line is also used. After becoming prosperous in the 16th century, it became a stylish resort with summer activities such as hiking and golf. Almost before the snow melts in the mountains near Kitzbühel the sporting summer starts. The old core of the town consists of two streets, the Vorderstadt and the Hinterstadt, with fine-looking old gabled houses, many of them built in typical traditional style. It is a first-class place to rent a private chalet from which to explore some of the most stunning alpine scenery in Austria. Kitzbühel has a lot of urban fun on offer in its car-free centre, with great shopping and a great variety in night-life.

The first known settlers were Illyrians mining copper and silver in the hills around Kitzbühel between 1100 and 800 BC. Although the inhabitants participated in the Tyrolean Rebellion against Napoleon, the wars of the 18th and 19th century missed the town. Fortunately, Kitzbühel was also lucky enough to remain undamaged from the destructions of the First and Second World Wars. Since the year 2000 the town has been a member of the Climate Alliance of Tyrol. The unspoilt and traditional town, is however very much at home in the modern world, with a long history of tourism. This means it is much more capable of dealing with the demands of visitors than a small village high up in the mountains. Said to be the most attractive mountain garden in Europe, the resort offers a wide choice of private apartments and luxury rental chalets to satisfy the needs of its distinguished international clientele.
