Luxury in Dolomites region: Majestic mountain scenery
The gigantic and spectacularly unique mountain range of the Dolomites, a UNESCO World Heritage Site, is located in the north-eastern part of Italy. The Dolomite area, including a national and various regional parks, is enchantingly beautiful: lush forests, 3000m high mountain peaks, magically colourful rock faces providing an unforgettable backdrop for luxury summer holidays. For more than a hundred years the Dolomites, an absolute tourist mecca, have been one of the best developed and significant sports centres in the world, famous for superb skiing in the winter months, and a variety of extreme activities in summer. We offer luxury apartments and private chalets for rent, some fully catered and some self-catered.
The Dolomites form part of the Southern Limestone Alps and extends from the River Adige in the west to the Piave Valley (Pieve di Cadore) in the east. Summer, late spring to early autumn activities include mountain climbing, hiking, free climbing and base jumping, as well as paragliding and hang- gliding...and sipping splendid Italian white wine! The Dolomites are well-known for the 'vie ferrate' or 'iron ways', a series of artificial rungs, metal ropes and iron ladders for rock climbing, that date back to World War I and were restored in the recent past. In the first week in July, the popular and challenging Maratona des Dolomites, an annual single-day road biking race covering seven mountain passes of the Dolomites, is staged.
