Skiing in Saint Gervais
As the third largest French Alps resort in terms of skiable area, holidays here certainly provide plenty of ski terrain The resort tends to have slopes that are less crowded compared to some of its neighbouring resorts. There are two main ski areas that make up the winter sports terrain - the Evasion Mont Blanc area and the Les Houches area.
Across the two areas, skiers can explore a total of 445 km of pistes suitable for every ability.
The largest of the two, Evasion Mont Blanc, links into several Alpine resorts including Megeve, Saint-Nicolas, Les Contamines, Combloux and La Giettaz which can all be accessed with the Mont Blanc Unlimited ski pass.
The area is predominately made up of blue and red runs making it ideal for beginner and intermediate skiers. However, there are also plenty of black runs for advanced skiers, as well as some of the best powder snow in the area.
The second area Les Houches is a much smaller area than Evasion Mont Blanc, but there is a fun snowpark to enjoy as well as several cross-country ski trails and a jump too. Members of the French national skiing team often train in this area and Les Houches also plays host to international sporting events throughout the season. For experienced skiers visiting the area, why not take on the black slope La Verte des Houches used for the famous international race the Kandahar for part of the Alpine Ski World Cup.

Several ski schools are on hand to help children discover snow sports in a fun and safe environment with some schools accepting children as young as three years old. Travelling by train is also a possibility, with a direct train from Annecy to the St Gervais Les Bains station.

Close to the Italian and Swiss borders, this resort is easy to get to from Geneva airport. At just 86 km from the resort, those flying into Geneva are able to drive to the resort in just over an hour. Should you wish to catch the train, the travel time is approximitaely 1 hour 30 from Geneva Airport.
