What the Press are Saying

"This one-bedroom bolthole is a brilliant option for couples who love fine dining – there are four Michelin-starred restaurants nearby, although we’d forgive you for staying put. The chalet’s huge wood-burning fireplace is our favourite spot, and you can ramp up the romance by playing your favourite tracks on the Sonos sound system."

With six villages to choose from, accommodation in Alta Badia is varied. With access to the greatest volume of skiing, Corvara is the obvious village to select for avid skiers. This pleasant, relaxed village enjoys a spectacular setting with nowhere in the main village more than 500m from the main lift base. The upper half of the village is also close to the Col Alto gondola.

Also convenient for access to the ski area is Colfosco at 1645m, which lies on the Sella Ronda circuit and has several Alta Badia ski chalets next to the slopes.

Some chalets in Alta Badia come with a private chef to create delicious meals for you during your stay, whilst others are rented on a self-catered basis. Many of our self-catered ski chalets in Alta Badia have incredible facilities such as swimming pools, hot tubs and cinema rooms.

Popular Luxury Chalets Alta Badia

In recent years, investment in property in the Dolomites has been increasing and resulting in more luxury chalets in Alta Badia being constructed. Below are some of our most popular chalet rentals.

  • Cesa del Louf - a private mountain retreat close to Arabba with an indoor pool.
  • Mi Chalet - a romantic retreat for couples with Michelin-star restaurants nearby.
  • Chalet Sotciastel - a renovated historic farmhouse in a serene setting.

Corvara Ski Chalets

One of the most popular villages in Alta Badia is Corvara. Corvara has two lift bases, separated by the breadth of the village and the little river Chiesa. The major one, a few yards outside the village, is on the Sella Ronda circuit whilst the minor base is at the top of the sloping village, next to some of the best hotels in Corvara. Staying here is extremely convenient with the majority of Covara ski apartments and chalets located no more than 500m from the main lift base.

Popular Corvara ski apartments include Villa al Sole 401, a stunning penthouse situated just 10 metres from the Col Alto piste, and Apartment Burje, a modern three-bedroom apartment with mountain views.

Skiing in Alta Badia

Alta Badia has a vast ski area which links directly to the Domoliti Superski network, giving you access to 500 km of pistes. Our luxury chalets in Alta Badia give access to the local ski area which boasts 130 km of pistes with slopes positioned between 1,300 and 2,788 metres above sea level.

The resort has a privileged position directly on the Sella Ronda, the world-renowned ski tour around the Sella massif, so is ideal for those who like to cover long distances. The Sella Ronda tour is one of the most famous ski circuits in the world, covering 26 km of epic pistes in the Dolomiti Superski region. The circuit is suitable for any relatively fit, competent skier and for anyone that appreciates a good view, the Sella Ronda circuit is a must. With astonishing mountain and forest views at every turn, you won’t cover the same route twice as you make your way around the circuit.

With fantastic nursery slopes and a number of excellent runs to progress to, Alta Badia is perfect for beginners. There are plenty of rewarding red runs for intermediate skiers and experts can enjoy some steep skiing at La Villa, including the famous World Cup giant slalom Gran Risa piste. For those who like to practice tricks, the main Snowpark is impressive with 14 boxes, 10 rails and 17 kickers.

Although the core area of Alta Badia offers mostly gentle piste skiing, the stunning Sella Massif does host some incredible off-piste skiing. Famous descents worth exploring include Val Mezdi - an off-piste ski-touring route from the Rifugio Boe that offers a vertical drop of 1,450m with a very steep start - Val Setus, which has a 1,400m vertical drop, Val Lasties – or Witch’s Valley - and some steeps around  Piz Boe.

Eating & Drinking in Alta Badia

Whilst you may prefer to dine in private in your Alta Badia ski chalet, the resort is in fact world-renowned for its gastronomic scene with several Michelin-star restaurants to choose from. There are also some superb restaurants serving delicious local Ladin cuisine. I Tabla is just one example; serving hearty plates of homemade dumplings, barley soup and polenta with sausage, this is Ladin cuisine at its best. At Piz Boe Alpine Lounge, you have a choice between a formal à la carte menu served in an elegant dining room, or a choice of traditional flavours such as polenta, pasta or gnocchi in a self-service area. Another favourite for local dishes is Maso Runch in the rustic village of Badia.

After spending time skiing and relaxing in your luxury ski chalet in Alta Badia, head out to one of the fun bars and cosy taverns for a tipple or two. Traditional apres-ski drinks in this region include eggnog with hot milk or with cream, a Pinecone Schnapps or the famed “Jargetee” made from rum, sugar, black tea and herbs. On the run down to San Cassiano, Utia de Bioch is a great place to stop for a couple of beers or a glass of wine. For a more ‘après’ vibe, L’Murin is a favourite among locals with DJs and themed parties throughout the season.
