Just 7 km from the city centre of Brixen (Bressanone) lies Plose, a wonderful resort in both winter and summer. Plose is situated in the Eisacktal Valley in the heart of Dolomites and is close to other famous ski resorts including Val Gardena and Pustertal. The resort offers over 40 km of slopes for all abilities bit is equally great for non-skiers with its beautiful winter walking trails and toboggan runs.
The slopes of Plose are varied, with 19 km of blue slopes, 14 km of red slopes and 10 km of black slopes. An absolute highlight is the Trametsch, South Tyrol's longest valley run (9 km) with a skiable vertical of nearly 1500m. Plose also shares a lift pass with nearby Gitshberg-Jochtal ski resort giving you access to the incredible Dolomiti Superski ski region with 1,220 km of perfectly groomed slopes on your doorstep. Freestylers can enjoy the Funpark Plose where both beginners and more experienced users can get their money's worth and cross-country skiing is also popular here. Non-skiers must try the impressive 9 km RudiRun toboggan run from Kreuztal to St. Andrä for a spot of serious fun.
The region is famed for its gastronomy with plenty of culinary delights on offer. Accommodation is offered both on the mountain and in the surrounding villages like St. Andrä. Brixen is famed for its Christmas market in the Cathedral square. You can expect mulled wine and almond pastries aplenty as well as all sorts of other Christmas treats.
Plose is also popular over the summer months due to its plentiful hiking and biking opportunities. For something different try mountain carting down the toboggan run. Mountain huts and rustic shelters entice you to stop en-route and sample delicious food and wine before having a go at rafting, paragliding, horse-riding or one of the other varied activities on offer.
