There is no denying that one of the most important parts of a ski holiday revolves around food. With this in mind it is no surprise to see a number of more innovative gourmet experiences popping up in many resorts this season.

Gourmet Safaris at the St. Moritz Gourmet Festival

On the 11th January 2019, St Moritz plays host to the 26th Gourmet Festival. A variety of events from chocolate tasting to brunch on the mountain will be held over the course of nine days. One of the most popular events on the agenda is the Gourmet Safari.

Travelling in a BMW limousine, guests will be taken on a culinary expedition to five separate locations where they will enjoy one course cooked by a top chef. Specially selected wines will accompany each mouthwatering course and all the guests will gather for the crowning glory, a delicious dessert, at the end of the evening. Tickets are limited so it is advisable to book well in advance.

Cheese lovers will love Zermatt’s latest enterprise. Glide past the Matterhorn in a gondola for four whilst sampling a tasty cheese fondue, accompanied by a refreshing drop of Valais wine.

The meal begins with a choice of starters and ends with various desserts and a taste of local schnapps. The gondolas leave at 6.15pm from the Matterhorn Glacier Paradise valley station on Friday 5th April.

Take wine tasting to a whole new level in Alta Badia, skiing from hut to hut accompanied by an expert sommelier and ski guide. You will sample and learn about some of the best South Tyrolean wines in the region whilst enjoying the majestic backdrop of the Dolomites.

Sessions can be booked on scheduled dates and are held from 1.30pm to 4pm.

Discover the secrets behind Tomme cheese by taking part in a cheese-making workshop. Produced mainly in the French Alps and in Switzerland, Tommes are cheeses produced from skimmed milk and thus are low in fat. You will learn how the cheese is traditionally crafted and even get to take some home with you to enjoy with a glass of good red wine.

The workshops take place every Wednesday in Verbier from 5pm to 7pm.
