Discover 10 of our favourite chalets that have been nominated for the World Ski Awards 2020.
Recognising excellence in ski tourism, the World Ski Awards 2020 are fast approaching. Acknowledging the best chalets in the world, as well as tour operators, travel agents and ski resorts, the awards bring together leaders of the industry over three days in November. We are delighted that Leo Trippi has once again been nominated for World's Best Ski Travel Agent and we hope to take the crown for the seventh year in a row. We also have a number of chalets across our portfolio which have also received nominations. You can view the full collection here, but below are 10 of our favourite nominated chalets.
1. Chalet Orso, Val d'Isere
Located in Le Fornet area of Val d'Isere, five-bedroom Chalet Orca is the ultimate alpine retreat. Surrounded by pine trees, the chalet is 150m from the slopes with a stunning interior featuring heated "Lauze" flagstones and traditional Arpin fabrics. Huge picture windows in the living area offer spectacular mountain views. Above the living room is a fun games area with table football, a pinball machine and authentic jukebox - perfect for entertaining the teenagers. Relaxation is taken care of too with a stunning spa featuring an indoor pool, spa bath, hammam and sauna.
2. Chalet Tango, Tignes
Part of the Black Diamond Residence, Chalet Tango is perfect for large groups accommodating up to 14 guests in total. Well-suited to families with young children, Tango has a bright and colourful double-height play area with a slide that also doubles as a bedroom. Much of the interior has been created using features from military aircraft including a well-equipped kitchen formed from part of a Nord Noratlas. Guests can relax in the extremely spacious open plan living area or head to the private wellness area which includes a sauna, steam room and hot tub on the terrace.
3. Chalet LV | 01, Cortina D'Ampezzo
Overlooking the famous "Passeggiata", Chalet LV | 01, is an impressive property conveniently located close to the heart of Cortina and its many shops, bars and restaurants. Set over four floors, the chalet fuses classical architecture with state-of-the-art technology.
There are two spacious living areas, six bedrooms and a glorious spa with a 20-metre indoor pool, sauna and Jacuzzi. Children will love playing in the ball pit in the play room whilst the grown-ups sample fine wines from the wine cellar.
4. Chesa el Toula, St. Moritz
We may be biased, but our exclusive chalet in St. Moritz is one of the leading mountain retreats in Switzerland. Set in the prestigious Suvretta area, el Toula combines traditional Engadine features with the finest Italian stones, marble, designer furnishings and one-off pieces from around the world. Set over five floors, the chalet offers a cosy living room, beautiful dining area and a wonderful spa with indoor and outdoor hot tubs, a pool, gym and hammam. There's plenty of post-ski entertainment on offer too in the form of a cinema room and a bar with pool table. What's more the chalet comes with use of a Heritage Land Rover Defender - perfect for exploring the snowy surrounds of St. Moritz.
5. Chalet Zermatt Peak, Zermatt
It's hard to beat the location of Chalet Zermatt Peak. Set into the mountainside, the chalet is perched high above the village with exceptional views of the Matterhorn. Accessed via a private tunnel, the chalet is the peak of luxury with a designer interior featuring wood, glass and stone as well as bespoke furnishings. There are five opulent bedrooms and an outstanding spa opening onto the terrace. Even the ski room is the lap of luxury with surround sound, TV and atmospheric lighting.
6. Chalet Alpaca, Meribel
Just 100 metres from the slopes, Chalet Alpaca has everything you could want from a luxury chalet. There's the magnificent mountain views, the cosy living area with fireplace, not to mention the superb outdoor pool and copper hot tub. Other wellness features include a hammam, sauna, rain shower, massage room and gym. However, it's the entertainment that is the real highlight at Alpaca. With a cinema room, bar and games room with pool table, there is plenty to keep everyone amused during their stay. The real excitement though is the incredible indoor climbing wall. In fact, there is so much going on, you won't need to leave the chalet at all!
7. Chalet Marco Polo, Val d'Isere
Situated close to the centre of Val d'Isere, we love the Oriental vibe at Chalet Marco Polo. The sophisticated interior features carved wood and weathered timber as well as stainless steel and crystal chandeliers and state-of-the-art technology. Guests can enjoy views of the famous La Face piste from the balcony, an opulent spa and space to party with a bar, entertainment system, laser effects and smoke machine. Children will love the games room with interactive racing car game and pool table.
8. Chalet Joux Plane, Morzine
Tucked into the mountainside, Chalet Joux Plane dazzles with its contemporary design. One side of the chalet has been constructed almost entirely from glass, providing a gateway to the mountain views. Also overlooking the surrounding peaks is a striking floating mezzanine dining area with a spacious living area below. However, our favourite feature of the chalet has to be the 23-metre indoor-outdoor swimming pool with a bridge to the terrace. There's also a stylish cinema room, games room with pool table and an art gallery for a splash of culture.
9. Chalet 1551, Lech
Ideal for foodies, Chalet 1551 serves up incredible Austrian cuisine, fine dining and the best wines from the chalet's private cellar. Matching the cuisine is the design with interiors the vision of CasusCasa. High quality materials and tasteful furnishings feature throughout with fabrics by Etro from Italy, Rubelli from Venice and handcrafted curtains by La Cuona. Ski-in/ski-out, Chalet 1551 couldn't be more convenient for accessing the slopes and after returning to the door of the chalet the superb spa awaits.
10. Hahnenkamm Lodge, Kitzbuhel
Just 50m from the start line of the famous Hahnenkamm race held in January, Hahnenkamm Lodge offers an unbeatable location with spectacular views. Set over four floors, guests can enjoy views from the spacious living area and vast terrace, complete with fire pit. You're sure to get a good nights sleep in one of the five beautifully-appointed bedrooms. We particularly love the master suite with its open plan living area and cow-themed freestanding bathtub.
