Crans Montana has a series of fantastic events for you to enjoy throughout the 2019/20 ski season
Etoile Bella Lui Festival, 6 Dec - 5 Jan
Based on the story of The Shepherd and the Bella Lui Star, this month-long festival celebrates the magic of lights in the mountains. The story of the Bella Lui Star is a local mountain legend which has been passed on down the generations. The festival aims to celebrate the heritage of the region through promoting artists, artisans and local produce.
The programme itself includes a fairytale walk on the Jack Nicklaus golf course lit by lanterns. The walk links together two of the resorts lakes - Moubra and Etang Long. Along the route, you can enjoy unique artwork by Erik Barray, one of the ambassadors for Lyon Fête des Lumières. At 17.30 on Saturday 7th December, prepared to be amazed by a series of circus acts en-route, from jugglers to stilt-walkers, fire jugglers and musicians.
At the weekends, you can enjoy a series of gourmet food stalls along the Rue du Prado where top chefs and winemakers of the region have partnered to tantalise your taste buds. Other activities, including a fashion show promoting the brands of Crans Montana, are also planned.
Winter Trail of Patrouilles, 19 Jan
On Sunday 19 January the Winter Trail of Patrouilles kicks off. Travel on foot or by fat bike against the clock, covering 20 km and 800 vertical metres whilst discovering the outstanding landscape and winter panorama. There is also an easier option over 10 km covering 500 vertical metres which begins in Violettes. Buses transport competitors to the start lines in Aminona at 9 am for the 20 km race and 9.45 am for the Violettes 10 km. At 1.45 pm there is an award ceremony for the top three in each category. The race is open to all men and women born in or prior to 2005.
Winter Golf Cup, 30 Jan - 2 Feb
At the end of January, the Winter Golf Cup comes to Crans Montana. Taking place on the nine-hole Jack Nicklaus golf course, this three-day event hosts three different competitions which are open to all with a minimum 36 handicap. These include a ProAm Challenge, Team Event and Golf Cup. At the end of each competition, participants can enjoy a traditional fondue or raclette followed by prize giving.
Audi FIS Alpine Ski World Cup, 22-23 Feb
For a chance to see some of the best skiers in the world don’t miss the Audi FIS Alpine Ski World Cup on the 22nd and 23rd February. Spectators can watch as the world’s best female skiers battle it out on the demanding Mont-Lachaux course for the Super-G and Combined Alpine World Cup races. Preceding the event on Wednesday night will be a slalom exhibition by 30 of the top national and international male World Cup slalomers.
Choc Altitude, 29 Feb - 1 March
Chocoholics pay attention as 2020 sees the sixth edition of everybody’s favourite chocolate festival come to town. Bringing together the best chocolate makers in Switzerland, you can enjoy a packed programme featuring everything from chocolate workshops and presentations to tastings and contests. The full programme is yet to be revealed but if last year is anything to go by it is sure to tickle your tastebuds.
Caprices Festival, 16-19 Feb
From 16-19 April, Crans Montana hosts arguably the best international electro-music festival in the world. At 2,200m, you can enjoy sounds from some of the world’s top DJs. Now into its 17th year, the festival has grown from a low-key local event to a three-day extravaganza attracting famous musicians and DJs from around the world. The full line-up has yet to be announced but early bird tickets are on sale now.
