A unique adventure in the Norwegian Fjords

Based in Tromso in Arctic Norway, Yacht Firebird is a luxurious 27 metre Oyster 885 RS yacht, fully customised to take you on the adventure of a lifetime. Designed by Rob Humphrey, you won’t find a more sophisticated mode of transport than Firebird.

Beautiful yet robust, this spacious floating chalet offers a 360° view of the breathtaking Arctic landscape and provides access to the Lyngen Alps peninsula. With little temperature change between day and night, the snow is excellent and with stunning scenery and true Alpine terrain it is easy to see why passionate skiers might be lured here.

Enjoy luxury accommodation & stunning scenery

With branded Heirlooms beds, bespoke designer tableware, Redington crystal and table linens, not to mention signature orange cashmere slippers and blankets, you would expect to see a yacht like this in the Caribbean not the Arctic Circle.

Firebird has four en-suite cabins - 1 master suite, 2 VIP double cabins and 1 single cabin - accommodating a total of seven guests. In addition she can carry up to four crew members, including a ski guide, ensuring you are well looked after during your stay.

Seascape windows frame spectacular views of the outside world, whilst a state-of-the-art cabin management system controls heating, ventilation, lights and the A/V system, which offers a large selection of movies and music.

A once-in-a-lifetime off-piste adventure

Apart from a few local ski centres close to the city, the Lyngen Alps are devoid of ski lifts and heli-skiing is banned. Thus if you want to descend the mountains you have to climb them first. To ensure safety, Firebird comes with an approved IFMGA mountain guide for ski guiding. All of the kit required can be hired locally ensuring fuss-free travel.

Having a boat as a base gives skiers the opportunity to cover miles in the day if the sea is calm. For example, you could be dropped on the east coast of the island of Vannoya, climb to a 1,000 metre peak before making the long run down to the west coast where the Firebird is waiting to meet you.

Culinary feasts await you

With refuelling snacks for the climb and afternoon tea on your return, you certainly won’t go hungry aboard Firebird. Chef Mel conjures up a menu for every occasion, tailored to your dietary requirements.

Local ingredients such as reindeer and Norwegian salmon are used to create exquisite dishes which are carefully paired with a variety of wines.

Alternative Arctic experiences

Aside from ski touring, there are a number of other life-experiences awaiting you. If you’re lucky you may get to experience the awe-inspiring beauty of the Northern Lights. Whale watching is another popular activity.

The crew can also arrange anything from dog sledding and snowmobile tours to horse riding in the snow. Cultural activities include Tromso’s Polar Museum and a visit to the northernmost distillery in the world - Aurora Spirit - is a must.
