Description

Situated in the remote Fljót Valley on the remote Troll Peninsula, Deplar Farm is a converted sheep farm and a gateway to many Arctic adventures. With black timber cladding and grass-covered roofs, the property is designed to blend into the natural landscape. Floor-to-ceiling windows around the property provide incredible views of the surrounding peaks. The Fljót Valley sees some of the highest average snowfall on the planet, making it ideal for ski touring; whilst the property's proximity to the Arctic Circle allows for sightings of the Northern Lights between April and October.

Deplar Lodge has a stylish lounge with a large fireplace and captivating mountain views. A large bar area for the all important cocktails, and equipped with a TV, pool table, foosball and darts, provides plenty of entertainment. After dinner, guests can take to the stage in the bar's loft, which is equipped with band instruments and karaoke facilities. The dining room, framed by magnificent views, has a fireplace as well as a taxidermy Icelandic bird collection. You can also relax in the library or enjoy a film in the media room, which is complete with game consoles, Apple TV and Netflix.

Deplar Farm has an incredible wellness area with an indoor/outdoor pool, indoor hot tub, sauna and steam shower. Also, with a spacious relaxation lounge, three massage rooms and two isopod flotation tanks, there is no excuse to not relax whilst staying here. Yoga and Pilates classes can be arranged year-round in the yoga room and there is also a gym equipped with cardio machines and weights.

Featuring sheepskin, Moroccan wools and textured walls, Deplar Farm has 13 cosy bedrooms in total.

On the main floor is the master suite, Grettir, complete with king-size bed, living area, fireplace and a mezzanine loft with a spacious seating area. Located on the main floor between the bar and dining area are four gallery suites with king-size beds and mezzanine lofts with hammocks and day beds.

On the second floor is bedroom Flóki, one of the largest rooms with a king-size bed, living area, windows on three sides and slanted ceilings. Two double bedrooms, Snorri and Guðrún, with views to the east and south, are located in the old part of Deplar Farm. Located on the lower floor between the media room and spa are a further two double bedrooms with mountain views. There are a further two queen-size double bedrooms. The bunk bedroom has two bunk beds sleeping four (a fifth single bed can be added), a small living area, private deck and an en-suite bathroom.

In summer Deplar Farm is beautiful with many wonderful activities to try. These include hiking, horseriding, whale watching, a hot springs tour, lake fishing, kayaking, char and trout fishing, skeet shooting, surfing and biking. During your stay you will enjoy a locally sourced and sustainable menu as well as wines from Deplar's extensive cellar and Icelandic craft beers.
