Working together to protect our winters

Our Sustainability Goals & Commitments

At Leo Trippi, we recognise a responsibility to help protect the environment and whilst the effects of climate change present huge challenges, we are committed to doing what we can to help make future travel more sustainable. After all, with glaciers in rapid retreat it is more important now than ever before to do our bit so that future generations can still enjoy the mountains. Whilst some may feel that luxury and sustainability do not go hand in hand, there are certainly things we can do to make a meaningful difference. With this in mind we have become a member of Protect Our Winters in order to work together to reduce our carbon footprint and become a more sustainable business.

Whilst we do not own the properties in our portfolio, we do make a conscious effort to work with owners and operators who have the same goals as us when it comes to driving sustainability and protecting our mountains.

Many of the chalets in our portfolio run on renewable energy, ingredients for meals are sourced locally and a number of owners have invested in ozone technology allowing pools and hot tubs to be completely chlorine free. You will also find a concerted effort being made to reduce single-use plastic and waste in chalets.

Ski resorts are also playing a big part in driving change with Villars introducing a fleet of hybrid public buses, low-energy snowmaking systems and solar panels on public buildings, no-car policies in Zermatt and Saas Fee, plans to eradicate plastic used by restaurants and events in Verbier and litter picking days and tree replanting schemes in Morzine.

It is clear to see that by working together we are able to make a positive impact and drive change so that future generations can appreciate the joy of a mountain holiday as much as we do.

Sustainability Partners

We work with a number of international and local partners who are committed to reducing environmental impact in ski resorts.

Protect Our Winters

We have recognised over the many years of organising luxury ski holidays in the Alps and beyond the impact of climate change on the mountains. As a result of this we have decided to support Protect our Winters, an organisation dedicated to tackling climate change from within the winter tourism industry. Together we hope to discover new ways in becoming more sustainable and actions we can take to ensure snow-filled resorts for many seasons to come.
