Large group chalet in Le Crêt

Set in the exclusive enclave of Le Crêt, Chalet Machapuchare combines privacy with easy access to the lifts and the centre of Val d’Isère. La Daille is around four minutes away by car, while the Solaise Express and Olympique gondola can be reached in about five. From the chalet, the views stretch across the valley from La Daille towards Val d’Isère and the peaks beyond.

Inside, the chalet has a very individual feel. Wood, stone, wool, leather and metal are used throughout, with many of the details either handcrafted or repurposed from traditional local objects. The main living room is particularly striking, with its double-height ceilings, enormous windows, wraparound balconies and well-stocked bar. Beside the dining area, a well-equipped kitchen can be closed off, allowing the chef to work discreetly.

Seven generous en-suite bedrooms sleep up to 14 adults and one child. Two master suites occupy the top floor, while the first floor includes three further double or twin rooms and a family suite with an adjoining bunk room. A seventh bedroom sits on the ground floor with terrace access.

The lower levels are dedicated to the chalet’s wellness and practical spaces. Guests can unwind in the indoor pool with its waterfall and counter-current system, as well as the hammam, massage area and gym, while a cinema room sits alongside. Outside, a private terrace with a hot tub and barbecue makes the most of the setting and gives guests another area to relax after skiing.

A ski room with heated boot racks, laundry room and two indoor parking spaces complete the facilities on offer.

Style & Design:

This is a chalet rich in character, where pieces have been handcrafted by the owner or repurposed from local objects, such as a coffee table fashioned from a cider press and light fittings made from Beaufort cheese casings.

Space & Layout:

The lift does not go to the top floor but serves all other floors in the chalet.
All of the bedrooms are suitable for cots.
Bedroom 6 is suitable for guests with reduced mobility
The master suite bathtubs are open to the bedroom, which is worth bearing in mind when allocating rooms if privacy is important. However, the showers are more private.
