Val d’Isère

Kilometres of skiing in one of the world’s best resorts.

Situated in the Tarentaise Valley, Val d’Isère is one of the most famous ski resorts in the world. With over 300 km of ski runs and 1900m of vertical, Val d’Isère is a resort for everyone.  Teens, over fifties, royals and professional skiers all descend on the resort to experience the fantastic skiing on offer. However, although the ski area is the main attraction, Val d’Isère is first and foremost a charming village, which whilst being increasingly developed over the years still manages to retains its authenticity.

Between now and 2022, a 200 million euro development is set to transform the centre of Val d’Isère into a beautifully styled resort. An underground moving walkway will transport skiers to the slopes more easily, a new shopping street and covered pedestrian area will be added and plenty of additional accommodation will be available too. At present, the resort has some of the best luxury ski chalets for rent in the Alps, many of which are ski-in/ski out for maximum convenience.

With a large selection of bars, clubs and restaurants, there is never a dull moment in Val d’Isère.

Val d’Isère is famous for its vibrant nightlife, beginning with plenty of après-ski choices including the infamous Folie Douce. Evening entertainment ranges from the simple to the sophisticated, with live music venues rubbing shoulders with piano bars and chic cocktail lounges. Shoppers will appreciate the huge choice of shops selling everything from local cheese and vintage wines to designer ski wear and fine art. When hunger sets in, there are plenty of restaurants serving up delicious Savoyard cuisine.

Vast and varied, Val d’Isère’s slopes divide into three main sectors. Renowned for reliable snow cover, the resort has hosted some of the great sporting events including the Winter Olympics and the World Alpine Ski Championships. Suited to skiers of all abilities, the resort offers beautiful off-piste possibilities, recently upgraded nursery slopes, kilometres of groomed pistes and an excellent terrain park. Other activities in the resort include ice driving, ice skating and paragliding and in bad weather there are several luxury spas and an excellent sports centre to keep you occupied.
