Alpine chalet in Le Fornet

Chalet Orso, along with Chalet Orca, forms Le Mouton à Bascule, an exclusive duo of chalets in Val d’Isère’s Le Fornet area. Surrounded by pine forests and boasting breathtaking mountain views, Chalet Orso is a quintessential alpine retreat. The slopes are just 200m away, ensuring easy ski access.

Inside, the chalet has a classic alpine feel, with ancient wood, stone and traditional Arpin fabrics throughout. The main living space is on the top floor, where large windows frame the mountain views and a wood-burning fireplace sits at the centre of the room.

The dining area adjoins a semi-professional kitchen that can be closed off, while doors open onto a 40m² terrace with a heated Nordic bath.

Above, the mezzanine adds another social space, with table football, pinball, a jukebox and a games console. There is also a separate cinema room, which gives guests another place to retreat to in the evening. High-speed fibre broadband is available throughout.

Chalet Orso sleeps up to 10 adults and 3 children across five bedrooms. On the first floor, there are three double bedrooms plus a children’s room with a bunk bed and two additional singles. On the ground floor, the fifth bedroom has a more self-contained feel, with a flexible twin or double setup, fireplace, dressing area and freestanding bathtub.

On the ground floor, the wellness facilities are outstanding, with a heated indoor pool, spa bath, massage room, hammam, and sauna. The fully-equipped fitness room comes with a TV and high-tech sound system to keep you motivated. A custom-designed wine cellar, stocked with fine wines, completes the wide-ranging facilities.

Level 0:

1 master bedroom with ethanol fireplace, private office, large dressing room, private terrace & en-suite bathroom (free-standing bathtub with built-in TV, walk-in shower, washbasin & WC)

Good to Know

Location & Access:

Due to the steep driveway and the lack of a pedestrian path on the main road, walking from the chalet is not recommended. However, the chalet drivers are happy to take you anywhere in the resort.

Space & Layout:

There is an additional bedroom, ideal for a nanny, private staff member or personal security, allowing even greater flexibility for families and private groups.

Suitability for Groups:

Chalet Orso can be combined with Chalet Orca via internal connecting doors in the living room to create Chalet Les Ours, accommodating up to 27 guests across 10 bedrooms.

Chalet Orso is nestled in the elevated hamlet of Le Fornet, just a short walk from the slopes. The vibrant centre of Val d'Isere, with its range of shops, restaurants and bars, is a quick drive away. Additional dining options are available at the base of the Fornet gondola.
