Chalet Orso, along with Chalet Orca, forms Le Mouton à Bascule, an exclusive duo of chalets in Val d’Isère’s Le Fornet area. Surrounded by pine forests and boasting breathtaking mountain views, Chalet Orso is a quintessential alpine retreat. Built from ancient wood and stone and adorned with traditional Arpin fabrics, the chalet exudes rustic charm while offering modern luxury. The slopes are just 200m away, ensuring easy ski access.

Upon entering, you are welcomed by heated "Lauze" flagstones and a spacious ski room for gear storage. An elevator connects all three floors plus a mezzanine level. The top floor is dedicated to an expansive open-plan living area, where huge windows frame spectacular mountain views.

A wood-burning fireplace creates a cosy ambience, while doors open onto a 40m² terrace featuring a Norwegian bath. The elegant dining area adjoins a semi-professional kitchen, which can be closed off for privacy.

Above the living room, the mezzanine games area offers table football, a pinball machine, a classic jukebox with vinyl records, and a 55" TV with a games console. There is also a brand new cinema room for family movie nights. High-speed fibre broadband is available throughout.

Chalet Orso accommodates up to 10 adults and three children (under 12) across five beautifully designed bedrooms. The master suite is a standout, featuring an ethanol fireplace, office space, private balcony, dressing room, and an Italian shower. The second and third bedrooms, with Forêt views, can be configured as twins or doubles, each with an office area and en-suite bathroom. The fourth bedroom is ideal for children, with a bunk bed (single above, double below) and two additional single beds.

On the ground floor, the fifth bedroom offers flexible twin/double configuration, an ethanol fireplace, dressing area, office space, and an en-suite bathroom with a freestanding bathtub.

On the ground floor, the wellness facilities are outstanding, featuring a heated indoor pool, spa bath, massage room, hammam, and sauna. The fully-equipped fitness room comes with a TV and high-tech sound system to keep you motivated. Outside, a terrace with a brazier bar and heated Norwegian bath offers uninterrupted valley views. A custom-designed wine cellar, stocked with fine wines, completes this level.

Location

Chalet Orso is nestled in the elevated hamlet of Le Fornet, just a short walk from the slopes. The vibrant centre of Val d'Isere, with its range of shops, restaurants and bars, is a quick drive away. Additional dining options are available at the base of the Fornet gondola.

Insider Insights

Location & Access:

Due to the steep driveway and lack of a pedestrian path on the main road, walking from the chalet is not recommended; however, the drivers are happy to take you anywhere in the resort.

Space & Layout:

There is an additional bedroom, ideal for a nanny, private staff member or personal security, allowing even greater flexibility for families and private groups.

Suitability for Groups:

Chalet Orso can be combined with Chalet Orca via internal connecting doors to create Chalet Les Ours, accommodating up to 27 guests across 10 bedrooms.
