Scarp Ridge Lodge, Crested Butte

Situated in the heart of Crested Butte

Set in the heart of the authentic mountain town of Crested Butte, Scarp Ridge Lodge provides access to some of the world's most exclusive skiing. The area receives around 450 inches (±1140 cm) of snow per year, offering fantastic skiing for powder hounds. A former Croatian immigrant saloon, the lodge has a Wild West facade which does not reflect its modern interior and facilities, including an oxygen enriched air system. There are also two cabins on the mountain, fitted with fireplaces, dining areas and seating for guests to recharge after skiing. Each morning, a custom-designed snowcat will pick guests up from the front door of the lodge and transport them to 1,000-plus acres of ski terrain in nearby Irwin.

Guests are welcomed into the Lodge's lobby, which features an oversized fireplace, snack bar and fridge stocked with bottled water; as well as lockers to store everyone's equipment. Scarp Ridge Lodge has plenty of space for guests to unwind, whether that be in the bar, adjacent lounge area or media room. The dining room seats 16 and the open kitchen, complete with marble counters and reclaimed beams, gives guests the chance to watch the chef in action. Children also have their own space in the form of a playroom featuring floor pillows, a chalkboard, TV, game console and plenty of board games and books.

After a day of hitting the powder, guests can unwind in the salt water pool featuring an underwater sound system or spend some time in the hot tub, steam room or sauna. There is also a gym equipped with Pilates reformer, elliptical, free-weights and yoga mat. Those who wish to enjoy views of Mt. Crested Butte should head for the rooftop deck, which is complete with copper hot tub, heater and outdoor sound system.

Scarp Ridge Lodge is able to accommodate up to 14 guests across six en-suite bedrooms. The master suite looks out to the iconic Mt. Emmons and a ladder leads up to a loft area. There are a further four double bedrooms (including a junior suite) and a bunk room built to resemble the board game Snakes and Ladders, with two and three-storey bunk beds and a loft filled with toys.

Throughout their stay guests can expect delicious meals to be served, with menus tailored to each guest's dietary requirements. Breakfast and lunch are included in every stay. Lunch is served at one of the mountain cabins at Irwin. For dinner, guests can choose to experience some of Crested Butte's restaurants or enjoy a three or five-course dinner, featuring locally-sourced ingredients, cooked by the Lodge's chef. The bar is always stocked with spirits, local craft beers and international wines.

Guests can enjoy a number of guided activities in summer and winter. In winter, choose from piste skiing at Crested Butte Mountain Resort, cat skiing at nearby Irwin, cross-country skiing or backcountry skiing. There's also the possibility of ice climbing or climbing the Guides Ridge, a local's favourite alpine climb.
