If you're a beginner skier, the resort offers excellent nursery slopes at village level, along with two highly regarded Italian ski schools that can help you conquer your first runs.

The reds in Cervinia would generally be classified as blue runs in other resorts, giving newer skiers plenty of room to progress. From the top of the lifts to Valtournenche at 1,525m, the resort boasts almost 2,000m of vertical, offering some of the longest cruising runs in Europe.

One of the highlights is the 11 km Ventina red run, which descends all the way to the resort. Tackling it from top to bottom without a break is a test of stamina that will leave even seasoned skiers feeling the burn. However, advanced skiers looking for heart-stopping challenges may find Cervinia lacking in the adrenaline department.

The resort's runs tend to be more mellow than steep, but the option to cross into Zermatt offers a remedy. With an international lift pass, skiers can explore Zermatt’s 360 km of more advanced terrain. However, be mindful of the clock and weather conditions, as the lift connection can close in poor weather, and getting stuck in Switzerland can lead to an expensive or lengthy return to Italy.

Freestylers will find plenty to enjoy at Cervinia’s Indian terrain park. One of the best in Italy, this park offers features for all abilities, from rails and boxes to jumps and kickers. The park stretches more than 1.2 km in length, giving snowboarders and skiers alike a great spot to test their skills.

Cervinia offers a diverse selection of restaurants, ensuring you’ll eat well during your ski holiday. For more affordable dining, it’s best to stick to the Italian side of the mountain. One of the most iconic spots is Chalet Etoile, a beloved establishment that’s been serving guests since 1974. For breathtaking views of the Matterhorn, head to Rifugio Teodulo, where you can enjoy simple yet satisfying soups, pasta, and desserts, along with excellent grappa. Another great option is L'Igloo, conveniently located right by the piste, offering a cosy atmosphere with a wood-burning stove and delicious grilled meats and pasta dishes.

In resort, there are plenty of special dining experiences as well. Wood combines Swedish, Italian, and Asian influences to create a unique and delicious fusion of flavours. At the renowned Hermitage Hotel, La Chandelle offers a contemporary dining experience with a modern twist on traditional dishes, paired with an impressive wine list.

Although Cervinia tends to be quieter during the week, there are still some lively bars to enjoy après-ski, especially on the weekends. A great place to stop on your final descent is the après-ski bar at Hotel Principe delle Nevi, offering a welcoming atmosphere to unwind after a day on the slopes. In the village, across from the ice rink, Lino’s Bar is known for its friendly vibe, featuring a live DJ every Monday, Tuesday, Friday, and Saturday from 5 pm to 7 pm.

Top Activities & Events in Breuil-Cervinia

Away from the slopes, Cervinia has plenty to keep you entertained including two signposted scenic trails at Plan Maison to explore for snowshoe enthusiasts. There’s also a 7 km long off-piste trail from the Valtournench-Salette gondola. Other ways to explore the Breuil-Cervinia ski area include a dog sledding experience or a snowmobile excursion. Tandem paragliding and fat biking provide further opportunities to discover the resort.

Cervinia Fun Park is popular with families. There's a natural ice skating rink right at the foot of the Matterhorn, an 18-hole mini golf course and bumper cars to add to the excitement.

Summer in Breuil-Cervinia

Thanks to Cervinia’s high altitude, summer skiing is a big attraction. In the summer season, there are 25 km of slopes to enjoy with Cervinia and Plateau Rosa becoming a popular training ground for the World Cup national and international teams.

Also attracting visitors in summer is the Bike Park del Cervino which offers more than 100 km of downhill trails. Particularly impressive is the Rock Wood Trail; with an average gradient of 16.6%, it is considered to be one of the most challenging trails in the bike park.

Golfers can enjoy playing on the 18-hole golf course at the foot of the Matterhorn whilst equestrian enthusiasts can go horse riding. There are hiking trails in Breuil-Cervinia and Valtournench for all levels.

How to get to Breuil-Cervinia

Cervinia is within a three-hour drive of three airports, Turin being the closest with a two-hour transfer by road. Milan and Geneva airports provide alternative options. A private transfer to Cervinia from the airport is the best option. We work with trusted partners and are happy to book these on your behalf.

There are no direct train connections to the resort itself. If you’re travelling by train, the nearest railway station is at Châtillon-Saint-Vincent (1 hour). If you're hiring a car, make sure snow chains and winter tyres are booked in advance.

Road access to Cervinia is from the Aosta Valley A5 toll motorway, leaving the motorway at the exit for Châtillon followed by 40 minutes on mountain roads.
