Best Mountain Restaurants in Zermatt

Chez Vrony
Situated in Findeln, this ancient wooden barn offers fantastic cuisine. The perfect mix of the classical and quirky this really is the ultimate place to stop for lunch after a hard morning’s ski. The sun terrace is famous for its Matterhorn view, sheepskins and al fresco dining.

Exuding rustic charm, this is quite simply a magical restaurant. Perched in the tiny hamlet of Findeln between the Sunnegga and Blauherd ski areas, the short downhill walk in ski boots from the piste is worth it for the stunning Matterhorn view, superb food and courteous and efficient service. The lamb is exceptional as is the truffle ravioli and there are also great salads, delicious fish soup and much more besides.

Serving up delicious Swiss fare, it is worth stopping here to enjoy the beautiful sun terrace, friendly service, great selection of wines and impressive Matterhorn views. The restaurant can be reached by non-skiers after after a 50-minute walk from Zermatt via Winkelmatten or from the top of Sunnegga on the signposted walking trail down the valley towards Findeln.

Adler Hitta
A great place to go on a sunny day, Adler is lively and upbeat with a DJ and beach bar vibe. “Chill and Grill” is the motto here. The views are fantastic and their rotisserie chicken is a must.

Raclette, fondue and barbecued meat await you at this trendy Alpine restaurant. Part of CERVO Mountain Boutique, Ferdinand is a great place to spend a fun evening with family or friends.

This family-friendly Italian restaurant is the perfect spot for a casual dinner with freshly made wood-fired pizza, pasta and other mouth-watering dishes on offer. We particularly love Grampi's spare ribs with crispy French fries.

Situated in the hamlet of Winkelmatten, enjoy a four-course daily set menu in a warm ambiance. Serving traditional Swiss cuisine, you start with a soup or salad, followed by a pasta dish, main course such as veal steak or roast beef and a classic dessert.

Schweizerhof Kitchen
Part of the newly renovated Hotel Schweizerhof, Swiss gourmet dishes are served in a lively, modern setting. There is a statement bar with an extensive cocktail list, an open kitchen and a DJ on hand to entertain you while you eat.

Le Gitan Grill

Alpine Gourmet Prato Borni
Awarded its first Michelin star in 2019, Alpine Gourmet Prato Borni pays homage to the wonderful diversity of regional produce. Chef, Heinz Rufibach, gives a masterclass in reinventing the wheel when it comes to traditional cuisine. You have the option of choosing between four and six courses with wines to match.

The Omnia
Also gaining its first Michelin star in 2019, The Omnia is defined by authentic flavours and seasonal ingredients. The chic interior is a reflection of the stylish cuisine with three different menus; Gourmet, Vegetarian and Soul Food to choose from.


One of the newer restaurants in resort, Potato's ingredients are all grown within 50 km of Zermatt. The restaurant offers modern, fine dining with regional wines in the form of a changing three or five-course menu. At lunchtime, you can dine a la carte.

Ristorante Capri
Retaining its Michelin-star, Ristorante Capri at Mont Cervin Palace, serves up fresh Mediterranean cuisine accompanied by stunning views of the surrounding peaks.

After Seven
This two Michelin-star restaurant with chefs Ivo Adam and Florian Neubauer at the helm offers a gastronomic experience to remember. The tasting menus are a creative mix of local and cosmopolitan cuisine with fresh, seasonal ingredients whilst the interior is the epitome of style courtesy of local architect Heinz Julen.

Best Après-Ski in Zermatt

Hennu Stall
Situated on the piste down to the village from Furi, this is one of the liveliest après-ski bars in Zermatt. With music on the terrace and live band playing the classics you will be dancing in your ski boots before you know it.

Papperla Pub
One of the loudest après-ski spots in town, no trip to Zermatt is complete without stopping in here. A popular meeting point with locals and visitors, après starts from 4pm in winter with loud music, hot drinks on the terrace or cold beers in the warm ‘Irish pub’ style interior. Hit it on a Tuesday night and it is THE place to be if you like live music.

If you're skiing down from Sunnegga to Zermatt, make sure you stop at the legendary Champagne Bar. Enjoy a chilled glass of champagne as you gaze out over the village and towards the Matterhorn.

Bar & Club Mamacita
Where once the popular Gees bar was located, Bar & Club Mamacita is Zermatt's most recent addition to the après scene. Opening for the 2020 season, the South-America themed bar will serve spicy food, cocktails and host live music every evening. The club below, playing electro jazz, electro swing, deep and tribal house music, will stay open until 4 am.
