Villars has direct access to neighbouring Gryon, and with the connected ski area of Les Diablerets, it provides an expansive playground for skiers and snowboarders. The town’s main lift hub is conveniently located in the centre, allowing you to reach the slopes quickly.
Skiing in Villars can take you from the heights of Roc d’Orsay down into neighbouring Gryon and across to Les Diablerets, where the Glacier 3000 offers snow-sure skiing and some of the most spectacular runs in the region.
The glacier area provides year-round skiing and is particularly popular with more advanced skiers and snowboarders who enjoy the thrill of skiing at over 3,000 metres.
Villars skiing offers an ideal start for beginners, with gentle nursery slopes near the village that provide a safe, enjoyable learning environment. The resort’s ski schools are highly regarded, and instructors are experienced in teaching both children and adults. As you progress, you can tackle the long, easy blue runs around Roc d’Orsay, which offer wide slopes and stunning views.
Intermediates are well catered to in Villars, with a large number of red runs spread across the Gryon and Villars area. The red runs near Les Chaux are particularly enjoyable, providing a mixture of open slopes and tree-lined pistes. A popular run for intermediates is the route down from Chaux Ronde to Bretaye, a long, scenic descent that captures some of the area’s best views.
Advanced skiers will appreciate the off-piste and challenging black runs accessible from the Glacier 3000 area, including the Combe d’Audon, known for its steep sections and sweeping turns. Expert skiers can also explore off-piste terrain, with guided tours available to ensure safety and reveal the best powder stashes.
