We may be biased, but the mountains are hard to beat when it comes to planning a romantic holiday - think mesmerising scenery, cosy log fires, relaxing spas and gourmet food - what more could you want? With most chalets catering to families and large groups of guests, it can be hard to find an intimate retreat in the Alps. There are plenty of hotels to choose from but the options are far more limited when it comes to finding something a little more private. Our collection of luxury honeymoon chalets helps you find that perfect luxury chalet for two where you can hideaway from the world, soak up the scenery and enjoy each other's company in the privacy of your own mountain home.
There are some ski resorts that are better suited to a romantic holiday for couples than others. For example, Zermatt simply oozes Alpine charm with chocolate box chalets and stunning scenery including the majestic Matterhorn (the perfect backdrop for a charming snapshot or two), whilst Lech, a resort popular with many a Royal, offers peace and quiet and an air of exclusivity. If you're looking for the finer things in life then Cortina d'Ampezzo is a perfect choice whilst authentic Italian charm can be found in Kitzbuhel, with its stunning ancient streets and medieval centre. Cobbled streets and Michelin-star restaurants make Megeve another favourite among couples. If you're looking to party the night away together then Val d'Isere is the resort for you.
We have a small collection of luxury chalets and apartments that provide the ideal setting for couples on honeymoon or those looking for a romantic break. Some are in secluded locations whilst others give you easy access to the resort amenities. We particularly love Mi Chalet in the heart of the Dolomites which is not only stylish but has breathtaking views to match. Another favourite of ours is Apartment Hickory in Verbier with its cosy Alpine ambience and access to spa facilities.
For a true hideaway then Backstage Mountain Cottage is a fantastic choice. Located in Findeln, high above Zermatt, the cottage is a 20-minute walk from the funicular and the town is not accessible after 16.30pm.
