While Val d’Isere may not match Courchevel in terms of gastronomic offerings, it still boasts several excellent restaurants, from the Michelin-starred Table de l’Ours to the Peruvian-inspired Altiplano.
For a memorable meal on the slopes, try La Peau de Vache, a welcoming eatery halfway down La Face black run. Here, you can enjoy hearty salads, local charcuterie, steak, omelettes and tartiflette. Another favourite is L’Edelweiss, a Val d'Isere chalet-style restaurant with a large outdoor terrace, serving exceptional Savoyard cuisine - be sure to save room for their giant profiterole!
At the top of the Fornet cable car, Le Signal offers both self-service and dining room options, specialising in fresh local ingredients to create delicious Savoyard dishes. In the La Daille area, we recommend Les Tufs where you can dine on a sunny terrace or in a modern interior, choosing from a wide variety of dishes.
For a quick snack or treat, we recommend visiting Maison Chevallot, a superb bakery that will see you leaving with far more than you intended to!
For dinner in the village, La Baraque is one of our top picks and a favourite spot for celebrations, offering a diverse menu of traditional and fusion cuisine in a convivial setting. For a more laid-back dining experience, Le Lodge Bar & Restaurant serves alpine classics like fondue alongside pizzas, with a resident DJ taking to the decks later in the evening.
Val d’Isere takes apres-ski seriously with the action kicking off at La Folie Douce, just above La Daille. Cocorico, located at the bottom of Solaise, is similarly lively with live music and DJs. When midnight strikes, the action moves to Doudoune, a dynamic nightclub in the basement that keeps the party going into the early hours of the morning.
If you prefer a more sophisticated ambience, La Cave Sur La Comptoir is a cosy little wine bar open daily from 17.00 to 01.00. Many of the upscale hotels, such as Blizzard and Savoyarde also have comfortable bars where you can enjoy a civilised glass of wine.
