Private chalet high above Cervinia

First built in 1934, Chalet La Fenice sits high above Breuil-Cervinia on the Italian side of the Matterhorn. Its name means “the Phoenix”, a reference to its restoration from a historic stone building into a fully serviced private chalet. The setting is one of its defining features: elevated, south-facing and surrounded by alpine wilderness, with wide views across the Matterhorn, Cervinia and the Aosta Valley.

Inside, the chalet spans 1,200m² across six floors, with a lift connecting the levels. Guests arrive via a tunnel on the lower ground floor, where the ski room is arranged with heated boot racks, glove warmers, seating and personal storage. This level also includes a private office and a well-stocked wine cellar.

The main living floor centres on the drawing room, where sunken sofas sit beside a two-sided fireplace, and floor-to-ceiling windows frame the Matterhorn. On the other side of the fire, the Club Room offers a more intimate setting for drinks, with Italian designer furniture and a custom drinks cabinet.

Next to the atrium, the dining room and show kitchen create a sociable setting for meals prepared by the private chef.

Chalet La Fenice sleeps 14 adults plus two children across seven en-suite bedrooms. The top-floor Matterhorn Suite is the principal bedroom, with an emperor-size bed, a sofa bed that can be made up for two children and a large en-suite bathroom with a bath. Two master suites sit on either side of the chalet, each with a private terrace, dressing area and en-suite bathroom, while four junior suites complete the accommodation. Several rooms also have balcony or terrace access.

Wellness is taken seriously at Chalet La Fenice, with a sunken 10-metre indoor pool looking out towards the Matterhorn. The spa also includes a sauna, hammam, experience shower, treatment room, gym and outdoor steel Jacuzzi, offering generous space to recover after skiing or retreat to during the day.

Away from the spa, the chalet has several dedicated spaces for evenings and bad-weather afternoons. The cinema room features three rows of tiered seating, a large screen, HD projector and surround sound, while the games room includes a bespoke Etrusco pool table, table tennis, table football, darts, an Xbox, VR headset and retro arcade machine.

Good to Know

Wellness & Amenities:

Where a group includes young children, access to the pool and spa area can be restricted by activating a 6-digit entry code.
For safety reasons, the pool is only available for use when property staff are on duty, between 10:00 and 23:00 daily.

Due to the chalet’s elevated position, guests are collected in Cervinia and transferred to La Fenice using the chalet’s dedicated off-road vehicles.
Guests arriving by car can use free open-air parking in the resort, although vehicles will be exposed to the weather. Covered garage parking can be reserved at an additional cost of around €30 per day, per car.

Location & Access

Chalet La Fenice enjoys a private setting high above Cervinia on the slopes of the Matterhorn, just moments from the ski lifts. Experienced skiers can traverse directly from the chalet to a gentle blue run, which takes you down to the main lifts in Cervinia.
