Luxury Ski Chalets Lech

An Alpine jewel with snow and style in abundance.

An unrivalled reputation for exclusivity and outstanding snow has earnt Lech its place amongst the top ‘must-ski’ resorts in the world. Part of the Arlberg ski area, which includes neighbouring St Anton, both its skiing and snow reliability are superb. Despite a modest altitude of 1,450m the resort receives around twice the amount of snow of some of its French competitors. The beautiful, car free town centre is full to the brim with swanky hotels, staggering luxury chalets and glitzy designer boutiques and shops.

The winter of 2016/17 saw the opening of four new lifts connecting Lech with St Anton and Zurs so the skiing area is extensive. Crowds and queues are a rarity on these slopes with Lech being the front-runner in Europe to limit the number of day passes issued at peak holiday times to 40,000 a day. There is something for everyone here; gentler blue runs on the sunny side of the mountain around Oberlech, or for more advanced skiers there are the more challenging slopes of the 2,377m Zuger Hochlicht. Additionally, there is a highly rated terrain park enhancing the slopes’ diversity even further. For the uber adventurous there is also the opportunity for heli-skiing, an experience unique to Lech-Zurs since it is the only destination in Austria that has this on offer.

The perfect combination of quaint charm and luxury living.

With its stunning architecture Lech encapsulates style, sophistication and elegance. The traditional town has remained the resort of choice for European royalty for decades, and one can see why. This traditional town has maintained its unique charm; despite the luxury on offer Lech’s warm atmosphere is unmistakable, particularly with the individual touch of the family-run hotels. Come December, Lech’s Christmas markets held in the Church square turn the town into something of a winter fairytale; there could not be a more perfect way to get into the Christmas spirit.

Après-ski in Lech is a more refined affair comparatively to neighbouring St Anton; great wine menus and relaxed music is the order of the day here - the perfect indulgence after a long day skiing. Every December the one-of-a-kind festival, Fantastic Gondolas, descends on Lech. Cable cars become small theatres and there are light shows and projections on the the white peaks at the top station. This quirky event is an unforgettable experience, not to be missed. However, undoubtedly the highlight of winter season is ‘The White Ring’, the longest ski race in the world. With up to 1,000 participants this race sees Lech become a hive of activity, hotels and luxury chalets often being booked at this time.
