Halfway between Martigny and Sion sits La Tzoumaz, a family-friendly resort with an altitude of 1550m. La Tzoumaz is part of the 4 Vallées, one of the largest interconnected ski areas in Europe linking La Tzoumaz with Verbier, Nendaz, Veysonnaz and Thyon. Located on the north side of Verbier, La Tzoumaz has access to over 410 km of slopes as well as superb views over the Rhône valley.
If you’re looking for a peaceful resort in an incredible ski area then La Tzoumaz ticks all the boxes. Perfect for families, there is plenty for children to enjoy; including a natural ice rink, indoor swimming pool and the longest toboggan run in Western Switzerland (10 km) which drops 834m into the village. The resort has a small selection of restaurants and bars but if you are requiring serious après-ski then you will need to head over to Verbier.
The ski area of La Tzoumaz-Savoleyres offers 55 km of pistes and with north-facing slopes, usually enjoys a long season from early December through to late April. There is plenty of skiing for all levels in the 4 Vallées - long gentle trails for beginners, plenty of red runs for intermediates and, for experts, numerous steep black runs and a vast expanse of off-piste skiing.
In summer, the region transforms into a hiking and biking paradise. The Verbier-La Tzoumaz Bikepark has five separate downhill tracks, with at least a 700m drop in altitude. There is also a special “Trail of the Senses” where you can discover nature en-route with a “Quiz of the Five Senses” using your sight, touch, hearing, smell and taste.
