For a table-service lunch on Madrisa, Madrisa-Hof offers seasonal dishes with an emphasis on local produce. Its timbered dining room has a more leisurely feel than a self-service mountain restaurant, and the large terrace looks across the Klosters peaks. Stop off at the neighbouring Jägerbarbefore heading down.
At the top of the Gotschna cable car, Bergrestaurant Gotschnagrat is an accessible meeting place for skiers and non-skiers alike. The views open across the Prättigau, while the menu focuses on freshly prepared regional dishes.
Set above Klosters, Berghaus Alpenrösli can be reached on foot or by taxi, with a terrace, regional cooking and a route back towards the village by sledge when conditions allow.
In the small Walser hamlet of Monbiel, Gasthaus Höhwald is worth leaving Klosters for. Hosts Mara and Thomas Graef serve carefully prepared, seasonal food in a timbered inn with an open fire and a terrace looking towards Klosters. It can be reached by bus, car, on foot, or by horse-drawn carriage.
Opened in 1938, Chesa Grischuna retains the craftsmanship and distinctive interiors that made it a Klosters landmark. Chef Ronald Fressner’s cooking has 14 GaultMillau points, with much of the preparation, from sauces to pasta, done in-house. Its dining room offers one of the village’s most memorable settings for dinner, whether or not you know the hotel’s Hollywood history.
At Hotel Vereina, Vereina Stübli offers a more formal evening in a dining room lined with carved pine. Perfect for a special occasion, the kitchen holds 14 GaultMillau points, and the hotel’s wine selection is worth experiencing alone.
Inside the renovated Seven Alpina Boutique Hotel opposite the station, Seven Peak draws on both Graubünden and Italian cooking. Game, pizzoccheri and local cheeses feature on its à la carte menu, served in a relaxed, wood-lined dining room.
At the Wynegg, chef Andri Fasser brings fresh ideas to regional, seasonal cooking without losing the familiar pleasures of a village inn. The small dining room and adjoining bar make it a comfortable choice for dinner, while the menu changes with the seasons, including game in autumn and winter.
For a relaxed meal with children or a group, Al Capone serves wood-fired pizza, homemade pasta and other Italian dishes near Klosters Platz station.
At the foot of the Gotschna descent, Graströchni is the place to keep your ski boots on for a while longer. Run by the Wynegg team, this informal après-ski bar has welcomed skiers coming off the mountain for more than 20 years.
The bar at Chesa Grischuna has a history every bit as rich as the hotel’s dining room. In winter, it opens from late afternoon for a drink before dinner or a later evening in the village. The adjoining Pastabar gives it a more informal dining option, too.
Across from the station at Seven Alpina, WunderBar serves coffee and cake during the day, while winter evenings bring après-ski, live music and a livelier terrace.
Klosters’ late-night institution, Casa Antica, has been open since 1959. Today, its two music floors range from familiar dance tracks downstairs to electronic sets upstairs, with a separate cocktail bar for a drink before joining the crowd.
