With a new year comes the opportunity for a fresh start and a chance to commit to a healthier lifestyle. Luxury ski holidays needn't be about over-indulging, and whilst we know the cheese fondue is tempting, there are plenty of chalets that provide you with an opportunity to achieve your health and fitness goals. Below are five of our favourites...

Chalet Spa, Verbier

As its name suggests, Chalet Spa in Verbier takes wellness seriously. Its magnificent 10-metre swimming pool provides keen swimmers with an opportunity to clock up lengths. It also uses a water purification process that uses alloy electrodes, thereby eliminating the need for strong chemicals to be added to the water. This purification technique uses trace elements such as copper, zinc and silver which are known to show preventative and curative properties. For stress relief, Chalet Spa has a hammam, sauna and onyx spa fountain as well as a Canadian Cedar wood hot tub with uninterrupted mountain views.

If you are focused on fitness, then the indoor gym and outdoor fitness terrace should satisfy your needs. The modern fitness room is fitted with cardio training Technogym equipment, whilst the outdoor terrace is equipped with a Schwinn spinner, Concept 2 rowing machine, dumbbell stack and bench. Pilates stretch bands, gym balls and a TRX are also available to improve core strength and stability. After a session in the gym, why not indulge in a deep tissue and joint repair massage or hot stone therapy with one of the chalet's experienced therapists? It is also possible to organise personal trainers or experienced yoga and pilates instructors to provide group sessions or one-to-one training.
