From lunch on Seceda to Michelin-starred dinners in Ortisei and Selva, explore our favourite mountain restaurants and places to eat across Val Gardena’s villages.

Dining in Val Gardena reflects the valley’s Ladin, South Tyrolean, and Italian influences. Mountain restaurants are part of the experience here, whether you stop for dumplings and apple strudel between runs or book a table for a longer lunch. Back in the villages, you’ll find traditional stube, pizzerias, wine bars and three Michelin-starred restaurants. Our guide covers places to eat on the mountain, as well as restaurants in Ortisei, Santa Cristina and Selva.

Mountain restaurants

Chalet Gérard

Above Plan de Gralba, Chalet Gérard offers a leisurely mountain lunch, with a sun terrace and views towards the Dolomites. The menu moves between Ladin dishes and game, including rye-flour ravioli and venison.

Costamula

Set in a farmhouse dating from 1608 above Ortisei, Costamula serves South Tyrolean cooking with a contemporary touch. Its position makes it a scenic lunch stop, while evening service offers the chance to visit after a day on the slopes.

Café Val d'Anna

Near the foot of the Seceda run into Ortisei, Café Val d’Anna is a great stop for lunch or a homemade cake. Its terrace is popular with skiers, but the café can also be reached on foot from the village.

Baita Daniel

At 2,240 metres on Seceda, Baita Daniel pairs traditional Tyrolean dishes with a notably extensive wine list. The Demez family has run the hut for three generations, and the terrace looks out across the surrounding peaks.

Dantercepies Mountain Lounge

At the top of the Dantercepies cable car, Dantercepies Mountain Lounge sits 2,300 metres above Selva. Large windows and a panoramic terrace frame the Cir and Sella mountains, while the menu covers Tyrolean and Mediterranean dishes, apple strudel, and après-ski drinks.

Rifugio Emilio Comici

Beneath the Sassolungo, Rifugio Emilio Comici is an unusual mountain lunch address for its emphasis on fresh fish and seafood. Skiers can settle in for a longer meal or take a table on the terrace when the weather allows.

SooChic

Beside the slopes at Plan de Gralba, SooChic serves Mediterranean-inspired meat and fish dishes alongside pizza made with dough fermented for 48 hours. It also has a terrace and lounge bar, and can be reached by road for dinner.

Fienile Monte · Passo Sella, Val di Fassa

On the Passo Sella ski circuit, Fienile Monte brings together Italian cooking, Ladin influences and a substantial wine cellar. Lunch is served in its mountain chalet; on selected evenings, you can book dinner with a snowcat transfer.

Restaurants in Ortisei

For fine dining

Anna Stuben

For a special dinner in Ortisei, book a table at Michelin-starred Anna Stuben in Hotel Gardena Grödnerhof. Chef Reimund Brunner’s tasting menu draws on regional ingredients, with wines selected to accompany each course.

Tubladel

Tubladel serves regional food in an inviting dining room in Ortisei. It's known for its game and meat cooked in a charcoal oven, alongside dishes built around local ingredients.

Snetonstube

Set in a former stable, Snetonstube is the place to go for South Tyrolean classics. The traditional menu includes dumplings, venison, and polenta.

For contemporary dining

Stube Vives

A short walk from Ortisei’s centre, Stube Vives occupies a wood-panelled stube dating from the 17th century. Its kitchen takes a more creative approach than the historic surroundings suggest, using ingredients sourced largely from local producers.

Zicoria

Zicoria is a brasserie beside Ortisei’s ski school slopes, convenient for lunch with skiers and non-skiers alike. The terrace also lends itself to an aperitif, while the restaurant offers a separate dinner service.

For pizza

E-quattro

This family-run pizzeria keeps the focus on its dough and ingredients, including San Marzano tomatoes and South Tyrolean mozzarella. Perfect for a relaxed and casual evening.

Wine bars

La Cërcia Enoteca

In central Ortisei, La Cërcia is a place to explore Italian and international wines over antipasti, cheeses or cured meats. Ideal for drinks and appetisers before dinner.
