Where to Stay in Tignes
Tignes is divided into five distinct villages: Val Claret, Tignes Le Lac, Tignes Le Lavachet, Tignes 1800 (Les Boisses), and Tignes Les Brévières, each offering unique experiences and levels of access to the slopes. Though purpose-built in the 1960s, Tignes has made recent efforts to enhance its architecture and aesthetics, blending modern luxury with its alpine setting.
Val Claret, near the Grande Motte Glacier, offers easy access to high-altitude skiing and is arguably the liveliest village in Tignes, bustling with shops, restaurants, and après-ski options.
Located just down the road from Val Claret, Tignes Le Lac is the resort’s social hub, with shops, bars, and restaurants. Many Tignes luxury chalets are located here, offering both self-catered and catered chalet Tignes options. Tignes Le Lavachet (2,100m) is a quieter, more affordable area with a handful of restaurants and bars. Tignes chalet rentals here are perfect for families and small groups.
The quietest of the villages, Tignes 1800 (Les Boisses), has undergone significant development and now offers charming, family-friendly chalets and self-catered apartments. Les Brévières, the most picturesque village, retains a traditional Alpine atmosphere with slower-paced living and authentic charm. It’s perfect if you're seeking a picturesque stay with great views and is home to some fantastic family chalets including Casa San Bernado.
