Luxury chalets close to Swiss international summer camps

Relax in our luxury chalets this summer whilst your children develop new skills at Switzerland's international summer camps.

Serena Norton

As the summer holidays approach, you might be wondering how to keep your children entertained over the coming months. One way to get them out and about and engaged with the world around them is to spend time at an international summer camp in the Alps. These offer children the chance to meet new people, experience the great outdoors and develop life long skills. And whilst the younger generation is kept busy, how about taking the chance to relax in the mountains yourself at one of our luxury chalets based near some of the most renowned international schools in Switzerland.

Chalet Le Ti, Verbier

Located just a short stroll from the centre of town, Chalet Le Ti is a prime example of an authentic Swiss chalet. Surrounding the chalet is a garden and terrace with sunken hot tub - the perfect spot to relax on a long summer’s day.

Several reputable international schools are located in Verbier. Les Elfes offers two to four-week summer camps from the beginning of June until the end of August. The program includes language lessons, sports, arts and crafts, activities such as mountain biking, rock climbing and paragliding and excursions to Bern, Lausanne and Geneva.

Chalet Les Étrennes, Verbier

If you’re looking to invite friends and family out during your stay then six-bedroom Chalet Les Étrennes is a fantastic choice. Tucked away on the south-facing side of Savoleyres, the setting is private and tranquil with incredible views of the surrounding landscape and village below. There is an outdoor hot tub on the terrace and plenty of space indoors to chill out too.

If you want to spend time with your children but still wish for them to experience camp life then Altitude’s day camps are a great option. At Altitude, they will learn how to work as a team and discover new skills such as fire-building, survival skills and orienteering.

Chalet de Rougemont, Gstaad

Situated next door to Hotel de Rougemont just outside Gstaad lies this stunning five-bedroom chalet. The chalet has a fantastic al fresco dining area on the terrace and whilst offering privacy enjoys all the advantages of the boutique hotel including its spa with indoor pool, hammam, sauna and treatment rooms.

One of the most famous Swiss international schools, Le Rosey, is located in Gstaad during the summer months. Improving leadership skills and pushing boundaries are emphasised during the children’s time here. In addition to academic lessons, students make the most of the Alpine landscape by partaking in a number of mountain pursuits from via ferratas to zip lining and canyoning.

Chalet Lottie, Gstaad

Surrounded by lush green pastures, Chalet Lottie provides the ultimate getaway offering both privacy and spectacular views of the surrounding mountain landscape. Set over three floors, the chalet has plenty of modern facilities including a cinema room, sauna and sunken cedar hot tub on the terrace. With seven bedrooms this is a great place for families holidaying together.

Under a 15-minute drive from the chalet is the JFK Swiss Outdoor Camp which focuses on outdoor learning and aims to provide first-hand experience of the Alpine environment. Each week has a different theme - rock, water or mountain. In addition to learning about the natural world, students will partake in all sorts of activities from hiking and climbing to camping under the stars.

Chalet Benou, Crans Montana

Crans Montana is both relaxing and action-packed in the summer months. With five lakes where you can swim and sunbathe, you’d be forgiven for thinking that it was a beach resort. Golf is also a big draw and there are a number of important tournaments during the summer, including the Swiss Open.

Chalet Benou is the perfect place to soak up all that Crans Montana has to offer. Set on the slopes, you have easy access to hiking trails and there’s a private wellness area where you can wind down after a hard day’s biking or hiking.

Nearby is Camp Montana, which welcomes around 1,200 children and teens from over 50 different countries between the ages of 8 and 17 each summer. The camp's philosophy is “to provide both an active and healthy outdoor experience, through sports and activities, in a creative and wholesome environment.”
